Meet the team behind Stokey’s new fish and chip restaurant

Cousins Kas and Inan have put everything they have into Cod & Brew – Stoke Newington’s new fish and chip shop.

For weeks, they’ve been working tirelessly alongside friends and family to prepare the restaurant.

The counter is creatively decorated with thousands of meticulously laid and grouted metal beer bottle caps. With the addition of a disco ball, neon lights and an open kitchen, the space has the energy of a vibrant modern American diner.

The chippy quietly opened its doors this week on Stoke Newington Church Street (where Truffle Burger once stood). They’re offering generous portions of sustainably sourced cod, haddock or rock eel cooked in a batter made with secret ingredients, paired with chips. Also on the menu will be Pukka pies, burgers, fried chicken, sausages and vegan options.

There are also speciality beers on tap, created by a local brewery.

Kas, 29, said: “I am very proud of the way we cook our chips, it's nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside”.

Inan, 31, added: “I was born and raised here. I even went to school in this neighbourhood and always loved it, so it’s a privilege to craft and serve great food in this community. I have a young son, and I’m happy knowing he will also grow up in the same warm and welcoming neighbourhood”

The duo explained that after spending several years in the fish and chips industry, they noticed a gap in the market for pairing fish and chips with beer and were eager to create something unique.

Kas added: “There’ll be good music and good vibes; we plan to put on events there.  We’ve put everything into this and we’re excited to be open.”

Inan has a long track record in this trade; having won ‘The Best Regional Takeaway’ awards at his past fish and chip restaurants in Bishop Stortford.

Cod & Brew is having a Grand opening on Friday 29th November 2024; with fish and chips on offer for £9.99. The diner has seating inside for 10 people and a serving hatch for takeaways.
